Metabolomics is the comprehensive analysis of small molecules (referred to as metabolites) involved in cellular reactions within biological systems and diseases. This research area has garnered significant global attention since it provides insights into the functional status of human, animal, plant, microorganisms, and their interactions with environment. The field of metabolomics has gained substantial momentum worldwide due to advancements in analytical technologies such as mass spectrometry and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, which have greatly enhanced the accuracy and depth of metabolic analysis. However, the large-scale analysis of metabolites presents challenges, particularly in data acquisition, informatics, and the translation of vast datasets into actionable biological insights. The intricate nature of biological systems calls for multiscale approaches that integrate data from molecular, cellular, organismal, and environmental levels. Multiscale metabolomics provides a powerful framework to address these complexities, enabling a more comprehensive understanding of metabolic dynamics and their implications for health, disease, and the environment.
